Diet Suggestion for Weight Lost and Over all Health
Actually I have learned over the years the following food are bad for people who have digestive issues. However, I never knew the exact scientific reasons until today when I came across this video by Dr. Gundry. According to his research studies and his personal weight lost experience (lost over 70 lbs), he found the following food contains lectins which causes poor digestive issues, and highly advises to exclude them from our diet. Most of us may ask the question what is lectin. Lectin is a protein that recognize carbohydrate receptors on different cell membranes including immunal cells. By that cells, we do need lectin. However, our body cannot digest most of the consumed lectins or even having allergic reaction to them. I will write a post specific on Lectin in the near future.
Food that contains lectins and should be avoided.
- tomato
- eggplants
- peppers
- peanuts
- potatoes
- cashews
- grains
- sugar
- beans
Suggested good food for us:
- coffee without sugar nor dairy
- dark chocolate
- green vegetables
He also advises other food to cut out which I had mentioned in my earlier post on weight lost.
- processed food
- sugar
- coca, soda including diet ones
What you should have each meal, use your hand fist as one measurement portion
- have one portion of proteins
- chicken breast, turkey breast, steak, crab, beef, lean ham, lobster, shrimp, tuna, swordfish, salmon steamed, haddock steamed, oyster
- eggs, Soy (tofu/tempeh), hummus, lentils, peas, peanut butter, chia seeds
- one portion of good fat
- half portion of carbs (avoid during the weight lost phase, but it is okay to have it while maintaining your body weight)
- one portion of vegetables
For better results, I highly recommend daily workout or at least 3 times a week. Each workout should include 15–30 minutes of cardios such as fast walking with another 30 minutes of weight lifting. It is essential to do weight lifting and strengthening exercise because your body will be continuously burning fat after the workout.
I got the above chart from www.goodfats101.com. It has some very resourceful information.
